How Omega cleans and why it matters

When we talk about staffing your site with a team, we don’t just mean that the players work well and efficiently together. We also mean that like on most teams, each player performs a different function. From start to finish, it’s predetermined who will do the so-called heavy lifting — scrubbing and bathroom duties, for instance — as well as the “lighter” ones (dusting, switching off lights) — and in what order.

“Surgically striking” each janitorial job with what are essentially specialists avoids duplication of effort and clarifies duties, thus eliminating confusion and speeding up the entire process. That said, because the degree of training for each task is relatively modest, we also cross-train our staff and make sure they understand that at various times and on a moment’s notice they may have to pinch hit within their own team or on another job’s team.

When specialist cleaners become expert what they do, and are likewise prepared for what would be entailed if they had to step in for a fellow team member, there’s less chance of injury all around. It’s a fact. Cleaners historically hurt themselves on the job and you can probably guess some of the culprits – back problems, shoulder and neck strains – all of which can be avoided if the cleaners know what to expect within the scope of their given task or the one they’re being asked to temporarily assume.

Ergonomics plays into our cleaning strategy, too. Lighter and easier to manipulate vacuums and mops not only eliminates injury-causing strain but also permits our cleaners to do their jobs more quickly and easily.

Delegating the work as we do to knowledgeable specialists also means that equipment is not misused. The cleaner who handles chemicals at your site will know how to handle chemicals. Whomever cleans your restrooms will know to contain the cleaning supplies to the restroom to avoid cross contamination. The delegation keeps our workers safer, and, not incidentally, yours as well.
